In her essay, she wrote “After five presidents over a century failed to create universal health insurance, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (2010). It has been a Godsend to more than 32 million uninsured Americans.”

Ofield: The Autobiography of Public Relations Man Ofield Dukes (2017) chronicles the career success of one of the nation’s most successful African-American public relations practitioners and one of the most influential people of the Civil Rights movement. 

 

In May 1990, Unnia Pettus graduated from Howard University with a B.A. Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Spanish.  She graduated  from the John H. Johnson School of Communications with Summa Cum Laude honors. 
 
Immediately upon graduating she began her career as a prominent national spokesperson. She served as the Press Secretary to Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., and the National Rainbow Coalition. 
 
Mr. Dukes reached out to her to offer his mentorship to help her succeed in this highly visible national spokesperson role. He continued to advise her throughout her PR career until his transition in 2011. 
 
In addition to being the book’s Co-Editor, Dr. Pettus also wrote The Forward for this memoir.
